Ŝercbildo pri Lawrence Welk tradukita!

Dankon al Thomas, pro lia helpo.

  1. Thank you for linking to my blog, but I haven’t updated that thing in ages.

  2. Sure thing. I'll give you whatever link you'd like. You're certainly enhancing _this_ blog.

  3. Hej Baloo, good work! Here is another translation for the Lawrence Welk piece:

"Li estas afabla maljunulo, sed lia Lawrence-Welk-a telefonavertsono hirtigas miajn nukharojn."

I think that "afabla" is usually a better translation for "nice guy"; "an old guy" is definitely "maljunulo", rather than just referring to his granda aĝo (much too respectful a nuance for "an old guy"). "Sonorsono" in no way indicates what it's talking about, partly because there is no mention of telephone, and also because "sonori" is not a translation of "ring" in the sense of a telephone's ringing. That would be "tinti". The only way to understand "sonorsono" in this usage would be to directly translate it back into English, and understand it from the English. Finally, "creeps me out" is a difficult one, but I think "hirtigas miajn nukharojn" comes fairly close. A direct translation would be: "makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up".
